Annual salary: £34,771 (Glassdoor)
What do I need? Computer, app development software
If you’re well-versed in programming languages, getting involved in developing apps could be a great choice for you. Apps are ever-popular with no signs of waning, along with general smartphone use.
Start with your own ideas and build your portfolio, unless you’ve already got one. When looking for gigs, it’s best to work freelance for an existing app company or take commissions for app creation on your own first. Try LinkedIn Jobs, Fiverr or PeoplePerHour, making sure you keep networking with people in the circles you want to be in.
Again, bring it in to a niche area where your strengths are. For example: do you want to work on iOS or Android?
This one might even be better to start as a side hustle while you develop skills and knowhow through programmes like Codeacademy and getting in there and making more of your own apps.
